The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is helping to improve the efficiency of state government by adding another option for renewing your vehicle registration; just get online and get it done. Kyrenew.com is an easy to use online resource that allows you to renew your auto registration from your home, office, or a library wherever you can get online.

KYRenew offers:

  • Access to licensing information
  • E-forms
  • Help with Frequently Asked Questions
  • County Clerk information
  • Personalized License Plate queries
  • Much More!

According to Governor Patton, "The Transportation Cabinet and each clerk's office are customer service agencies. It is our responsibility to make government as convenient as possible to the residents we serve. Internet renewal is another way in which we are upholding our mission of providing great service to our taxpayers and bringing government to the people."

To be eligible to use the Internet renewal site:

  • A company that voluntarily provides electronic verification of insurance must currently insure the vehicle
  • The vehicle renewed must have current registration
  • The owner of the vehicle cannot have overdue property taxes on any other vehicles
  • The address on the registration renewal notice must be current
  • The vehicle must be a passenger vehicle or a light truck
  • The customer must have a Visa or MasterCard
  • The customer must have available their latest vehicle registration and title certificates
  • The vehicle cannot be leased

Transportation Secretary James Codell says the road to Internet renewals has been long and many times frustrating. "But we're proud of those involved in the development of this system. They've kept the focus on the customer and on creating a system that will make government more efficient and more convenient for Kentucky motorists."

Kentucky is currently a voluntary compliance state in regard to providing electronic verification of insurance. The four companies currently participating are Kentucky Farm Bureau, The Hartford, Prudential, and USAA. Other companies are working with the Commonwealth and should be participating soon.
