According
to the Office for the New Ecomony Web
site, Kentucky ranks 47 out of the 50 states in per capita R&D
spending. In addition, the Commonwealth has no significant corporate
research and development presence, nor does it have a federal research
laboratory.
But help is on the way! To address these deficiencies the New Economy
strategic plan will advance the development of a globally competitive
research and development infrastructure at Kentucky's research universities.
The Commonwealth's resources will be deployed to bolster targeted research
areas where Kentucky stands to gain national prominence.
