State Web Sites Look Similar - And That's A Good Thing

February 5, 2002

Imagine if every time you went to a Web site, whether you’ve been to the site or not, you knew exactly where to find everything. Sound like a dream? It’s actually a goal for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Making it easier for Kentucky citizens and visitors to state Web sites to quickly find what they are looking for is becoming a priority as more and more services and information are offered online. That’s why the Commonwealth home page KYDirect was recently updated with a new look and easier navigation. What’s next? Agencies are beginning to adopt the KYDirect look for their sites as well.

Web developers and Webmasters from Commonwealth agencies have been meeting over the past few months and have recommended the adoption of new standards and a more consistent look for all Commonwealth’s Web sites. Changes have already taken place. The Transportation Cabinet is reworking the look for their site. So is the Revenue Cabinet. The Personnel Cabinet has the KYDirect logo at the top of their site, and the Department of Insurance has a totally new look that reflects more consistency and an easier to use interface.

More and more, Kentucky citizens are getting out-of-line for Government services, and they’re going online. The Commonwealth is working to make their experience a good one!
