Kentucky's Sales and Use Tax Returns Moving Online The Kentucky Revenue Cabinet (KRC) and the Governor's Office for Technology (GOT) are working together on a new project that will bring Internet filing of sales and use tax returns to the Commonwealth. Sales and use tax has a very large taxpayer base. The proposed Internet application will allow taxpayers to better control their sales and use tax accounts. They will be able to view returns that were previously filed online. They will also be able to see if they have any outstanding bills owed to KRC. The application
is due to be available to the taxpayers in November 2002. KRC users
and the development team are excited about this new application because
of the benefits that will be realized. These include simplifying the
filing of returns for the taxpayers and enabling them to better manage
their own accounts and providing more accurate and complete information
to KRC. "We are very happy to be working with GOT on development
of this application," said Carla Hawkins, Director of KRC's Division
of Systems Planning and Development. "Not only will we be providing
better service to the taxpayers by responding to their requests to file
on-line, we will also eliminate some of our time spent processing paper
returns."
