Kentucky Great Getaway Guide Now Available Online

Kentucky's Great Getaway Guide 2003 is now available to the public online!
The annual vacation guide is produced by the Kentucky Department of Travel (KDT), an agency of the Tourism Development Cabinet, which promotes the Commonwealth as a travel destination.

The 130-page magazine-style book includes information about Kentucky attractions and accommodations and contains a ten-page Calendar of Events. The publication is arranged in four geographic sections for easy use in locating things like "must sees," dining options or unique destinations whether you're in eastern, western, north central or south central Kentucky. The guide also offers ideas for themed getaways such as "Down on the Farm," "Music of Kentucky" and "Watchable Wildlife."

The cover of the 2003 Great Getaway Guide features the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, the Commonwealth's newest attraction, opening in July 2003. The center, a new agency of the Tourism Development Cabinet, will showcase Kentucky's one-of-a-kind crafting experience. Visitors to the center can see and purchase crafts, enjoy a Kentucky fresh meal or snack and learn more about craft-related tourism destinations throughout the state.

The economic impact of Kentucky's tourism industry hit $8.7 billion in 2002, contributing more than $906 million in state and local taxes. Tourism ranks as Kentucky's third largest industry and second largest employer.
