Kentucky Virtual Library for Kids Website is a Winner!

In November, Techlines told you about a new Commonwealth Website for kids from Kentucky's Virtual Library. We thought it was cool, and apparently, so does the International Association of Webmasters and Designers. They've just awarded it a Golden Web Award!

Designed specifically for first through fifth graders, the fun and informative site features 24/7 access to useful resources and links including:

  • Grolier’s Encyclopedias in English and Spanish
  • Searchasaurus that connects students to magazines and almanacs
  • “Space Dog” and “All the Known Information in the Universe”
  • Kentuckiana Digital Library filled with historical documents
  • A step-by-step guide to help students learn how to research online

The association presents the awards to sites “whose web design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of recognition.”

The web portal is accessed through the Kentucky Virtual Library at http://www.kyvl.org. From the home page, click on “Kids” and turn your speakers up! For more information, call toll free at 1-877-588-5288.
