Made In Kentucky Products Just a Click Away

Did you know you can buy many "Made in Kentucky" products online? The Department of Agriculture and kentuckyvirtual.com both have wonderful Web sites featuring Kentucky made products. Now they've teamed up to make it easier for site visitors to find what they need. Kentucky Virtual

One of the innovative features on the Department of Agriculture's Web site is a free service that lets participating Kentucky companies build their own simple Web site and feature their product or service. Now, they can also choose to link to information about their company on kentuckyvirtual.com.

As part of the arrangement, kentuckyvirtual.com will promote the Department's Web site as part of a section recognizing the company's strategic partners. Kentuckyvirtual.com's client companies sell food products, crafts, furnituDepartment of Agriculturere, jewelry, pottery and many other items. The project is sponsored in part by the Kentucky Wood Products Competitiveness Corporation and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board.

"This is a logical progression for both kentuckyvirtual.com and the Department's free Web page service," Agriculture Commissioner Billy Ray Smith said. "More people are shopping on their computers every day, and the connection of these two services will make it easier for consumers to find what they want and buy it online." The Department of Agriculture's Web site receives over 10,000 new visitors each month.

"The Internet has become a powerful economic tool which can help us promote Kentucky products, said Governor Patton. "Kentuckyvirtual.com is a prime example of an innovative idea matching our distinct traditions and heritage with current technology."
