Students Ready for International Science FRANKFORT, KY--
Twenty-seven Kentucky students will join more than 1,200 promising young
scientists from across the world next month at the Intel International
Science and Engineering Fair in Louisville, Gov. Paul Patton announced
today. The 2002 Intel/ISEF will bring the worlds best young
scientific minds to Kentucky, said Patton. The students
on Team Kentucky 2002 will give our citizens a sense of pride in the
states scientific community. Im impressed by their breadth
of knowledge, and its gratifying to see such a large homegrown
contingent. The students projects cover medicine, health, biochemistry, environmental sciences and other areas. Examples of projects include:
The Intel/ISEF is set for May 12-18 in Louisville. It is the worlds largest pre-college science fair, with more than 1,200 of the worlds most promising young scientists expected to attend. Students from all 50 states and 40 countries around the world will compete for honors in 14 scientific categories and a team project category. More than 900 awards will be presented, including scholarships, cash awards, computers, lab equipment, summer internships and scientific field trips. The Commonwealth
