Governor Fletcher Becomes First Governor to Host Chat Session

May 3, 2004

Last month on Kentucky.gov, Governor Fletcher hosted the first ever online chat session for a Kentucky Governor. The Kentucky.gov management team reported that the Governor really enjoyed the chat format because it allowed him to quickly submit responses directly to constituents on issues that concern them most.

And submit they did. The hour-long session was packed with questions on the budget, tax reform, healthcare, the reorganization of state government and much more. According to Lee Tompkins, the Marketing Director for Kentucky.gov, "We were very pleased with the turnout. There are so many people online today in Kentucky, the chat session format is a great way to reach out to them in their homes, at work or wherever they can reach the Web."

Chat sessions are available via Kentucky.gov for any state agency wanting to host one. It's anticipated that Governor Fletcher will be hosting another one in the future. Look for more information on the Governor's Website at http://governor.ky.gov.
