New Commonwealth of Kentucky
Website Puts the Visitor First
September
3, 2003
Making it
easier for citizens and businesses to interact with the Commonwealth
of Kentucky is the main goal of the state's Website. When the
site first launched in the mid 1990's, Kentucky was one of the
leading states in terms of the amount of information available
online. Since then,
the site has improved dramatically, but it's about to take a major
leap forward.
When the site relaunches on September
15, it will feature a whole new look and easier navigation. Visitors
to the site will be able to get live help online, search through
a calendar of state meetings and events, read the latest state
government news in the newsroom, utilize the world's best search
engine, Google, and find online services by name and not just
by government department or agency title.
Designed with the help of the Commonwealth's portal partner, Kentucky
Interactive Inc., the state's Website will be utilizing a content
management system that makes it easier to keep information up-to-date.
The system helps put the focus of the Website on the information
visitors need and less on technology that can sometimes get in
the way of keeping information fresh.
Over time,
additional features will be added to the site including many more
new online services, sign-up tools to get e-mail news by topic,
features to allow citizens to contact and communicate more effectively
with legislators and tools to allow you to more easily find what
government services are located in your area.
Be sure to check out http://kentucky.gov
on September 15!
