Kentucky's
511 Traffic and Travel Info line has now taken over one million
calls! The service, launched statewide in November 2002, provides
information about accidents, construction information and weather
conditions that affect the roadways. Leon Walden, program coordinator
for 511 for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said, "We
are very pleased with the response from the public. We are having
more trips with drivers having information ahead of time to make
their journeys safer." The traffic and travel information
is available by dialing the three simple digits 5-1-1 or at www.511.ky.gov.
The public is making informed decisions because of 511 before
getting into a congested area.
